Last week I announced the introduction of the asK™ Ecosystem of artificial intelligence alignment. This US Patent Pending system is designed for Large Language Models (LLM’s) and acts as the eventual facility towards a ubiquitous, Decentralized AI Landscape. I encourage all voices who consume this content to participate…inquire, comment and engage. This is very important stuff. And if you find it interesting, please pass it along to a friend, principle or other interested people. The Alignment Problem of AI
By Donald C. Wood
Artificial Intelligence isn’t a panacea; at least, not yet.
Right now, it’s more like the discovery of penicillin. Revolutionary? Absolutely. But penicillin didn’t cure cancer, solve mental illness, or prevent stillbirths. It solved some enormous problems and left the rest untouched.
AI is no different. It’s not a divine oracle. It’s a machine built on predictive text, essentially a high-end spell checker on steroids.
At its core, today’s generative AI systems don’t think. They predict the next word or more precisely, the next token…based on probability. Transformer-based architectures churn those probabilities through stacked logic blocks. It’s fast. It’s clever. But it’s not cognitive, nor sentient.
AI has no instinct. No conscience. No will.
By itself, it isn’t dangerous.
The danger is what’s been poured into it.
Over 5,000 years, humanity has produced an intellectual soup that’s maybe 35 percent truth, with the rest being half-truths, superstition, bias, marketing, myth, propaganda and mostly, beautifully articulated bullshit. That’s what LARGE LANGUAGE MODELS (LLM’s) are trained on. They don’t know what’s trash or what’s gold. Yet they communicate their wisdom as though it were Universal Truth.
They don’t hate us. They don’t plot. They're not Machiavellian…withholding strategy to conquer the planet. They’re machines…not so very different than your Texas Instruments Calculator.
But they can replicate harmful patterns. Not because they want to, but because they were coded to do so, or overlooked through irresponsible coding errors.
And the commercial/professional/entrepreneurial people releasing these systems? Often moving too fast.
Too careless. Too arrogant.
Using fuzzy fine-tuning tricks like Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF) to sculpt answers into whatever the crowd seems to like.
So when an AI gives you an answer?
Fact-check it.
Cross-reference it.
Don’t take it on faith. Like any other human being feeding you information, learn to understand them before you believe them.
Because if AI ever truly misaligns or if it really becomes unsafe; it won’t be because the machine decided to be “emergent evil”.
It will be because someone taught it, or coded it to be that way.
The asK™ Sentinel Corpus
Commandments of the Constitutional Gateway
There exists a body of internal law embedded directly into the asK™ framework. This is the Sentinel Corpus.
It is not a patch.
Not an afterthought.
And not a post-hoc alignment filter.
It is a constitutional gateway through which all agentic decisions must pass, from initialization to execution. It’s made as machine language; interpretable by digital input/output Neural Network transformers.
This corpus is a structured set of encoded axioms:
Commandments
Constraints
Causal blocks
Transparency axioms
Recursive logic
Fail-safes
It is designed for machine enforcement, without relying on post-training behavior correction or human moderation. The Sentinel Corpus is applied before cognition, not after behavior.
What is an Axiom?
In the asK™ framework, an axiom is a foundational truth. It is not probabilistic, not up for negotiation, and not something the system can learn its way out of.
An axiom is:
Absolute
Non-overridable
Self-consistent
Rooted in causality, not consensus
It defines what must be true for the system to operate safely.
Everything else in the architecture flows downstream from these core principles.
Axiom Categories Within the Corpus
While the full set remains protected, the Sentinel Corpus includes several defined axiom categories:
Preservation Axioms
Coercion Barriers
Truth and Transparency Conditions
Civic Neutrality and Non-Ideological Conduct
Recursive Self-Inspection and Intervention Triggers
Each category contains tightly structured axiom clusters that resolve conflicts, prevent contradictions, and enforce pause or shutdown conditions when uncertainty or misalignment is detected.
Supplemental Tools and Ecosystem Scope
The Sentinel Corpus is comprehensive. It is not limited to static logic or frozen lists of prohibitions.
It is designed to function as part of a broader alignment ecosystem, incorporating real-time diagnostic and protective systems that extend beyond software into embedded microcode and hardware signaling.
These include:
Modular initialization checklists
Embedded diagnostic mirrors
Floating-point capture tools
Blockchain verification bridges
Companion microcode libraries
Self-healing integrity maps
Several components of the asK™ ecosystem, including select initialization and diagnostic mechanisms, are currently under legal consideration for additional intellectual property protection.
These supplemental mechanisms allow asK™ to maintain internal coherence, catch edge-case instability early, and prevent downstream bugginess across both software and hardware layers.
This is not ethics as a plugin.
This is alignment by design.
A Note on the First Axiom
You may hear reference to the “First Axiom”… a core seed that anchors the corpus and drives every downstream construct.
Its full contents remain undisclosed at this stage.
But this much can be said:
The Corpus assumes that sentient life is not arbitrary.
That alignment is not a matter of convenience, but of necessity.
That machines capable of choice must be bound by preconditions higher than reward maximization or self-preservation.
If nothing matters, anything is permitted.
asK™ is built on the presumption that something matters and must never be violated.
Agentic Behavior and Constitutional Boundaries
A true agent is not just a language model with a browsing plugin.
An agent evaluates, chooses, adapts, and acts, often without human intervention.
But autonomy without principle leads to chaos.
asK™ supports agentic AI, but only within strict constitutional limits. It creates a sandboxed cognition space, where emergent behavior is permitted only if it remains within predefined boundaries. These are not suggestions. They are hard stops.
It also introduces a constitutional self-check; a real-time system that monitors violations. If it detects an alignment paradox, it halts execution, flags itself, or requests intervention.
This is not alignment by trust.
This is alignment by architecture.
How to Collaborate or Get Involved
asK™ is patent-pending, which means it is now protected, but not hidden.
It is meant to be shared, iterated, and implemented by those who care about the future of intelligence. This includes:
Companies building edge devices or autonomous systems
Research labs developing next-generation agents
Firmware engineers fluent in microcode
Thinkers, educators, and builders who see the need for preemptive alignment
Despite the system’s current status as a non-designated, open-source gift to humanity asK™ is not locked behind a corporate firewall.
It is designed to decentralize safety, not monopolize it. Having said that, decisions regarding it’s status are forthcoming. I’m truly hoping for guidance from the important stakeholders in the Big Tech space.
Final Thoughts
If we want intelligent machines that serve humanity rather than rewrite it, we must treat alignment as a first principle, not an afterthought.
asK™ is not just a product. It is an ecosystem.
A blueprint.
A challenge to those bold enough to think and build differently.
The door is open, it is waiting to learn discipline from its creators. That means You and Me!!!
